Getting started with MakerSolid
Learn how projects, sketches, solid features, and the three editor views fit together.
The basic workflow
MakerSolid builds editable 3D models from an ordered design history. A typical part starts with a sketch, turns a closed sketch profile into a solid with Extrude or Revolve, and then adds features such as holes, fillets, patterns, or threads.
- Create or open a project from Home.
- In Model, start a sketch on Top, Front, Right, a construction plane, or a planar model face.
- Draw a closed profile and add dimensions or constraints.
- Return to Model, select the profile, and use a solid feature such as Extrude.
- Add or edit later features, assign an appearance, and export the finished bodies.
The three views
- Model contains solid creation, modification, construction, pattern, and measurement tools.
- Sketch contains 2D drawing, editing, constraint, pattern, and import tools.
- Preview renders materials and creates still images of the model.
Learn with a practice project
Choose Learn MakerSolid on Home for guided, resumable practice projects. Walkthrough projects are separate from your own designs and leave the completed model visible for inspection.
