Project
Project supported model edges into the active sketch as precise associative read-only reference geometry.
Purpose
Project supported model edges into the active sketch as precise associative read-only reference geometry.
Where to find it
Edit a face-backed or plane-backed sketch, open Constraints, and choose Project.
Selection
- Tap supported visible model edges from the sketch background; multiple edges can be projected.
Steps
- Choose Project and tap each source edge.
- Finish selection and use the projected geometry for constraints and dimensions.
Options
Result
Projected reference entities appear in the sketch and update when their source geometry rebuilds.
Editing
Use Break Link for independent geometry or Relink when upstream changes invalidate a source reference. Use Manage Constraints in a relationship constraint panel to inspect or delete constraints. If an upstream change conflicts with a saved relationship, the sketch shows Sketch constraints need attention; Review Constraints highlights the unsatisfied relationship for removal or repair.
Troubleshooting
An edge cannot be projected or shows as lost.
Use an actual model edge visible to the sketch plane, then relink after upstream topology changes.
A linked projection moves and Sketch constraints need attention appears.
Tap Review Constraints, then remove the highlighted Unsatisfied relationship or revise the upstream source. The saved sketch geometry remains in place until the conflict is resolved.
