Modeling tool
Loft
Create a solid transition through two or more ordered closed profiles or planar faces.
Purpose
Create a solid transition through two or more ordered closed profiles or planar faces.
Where to find it
Open Model, choose Create > Loft, and select sections in transition order.
Selection
- Select at least two compatible closed profiles or planar faces.
- Use Section Order to confirm or reorder the sequence.
Steps
- Select Sections in the desired order.
- Choose Operation and Target, then configure Shape and Accuracy.
- Review the preview for twisting or incompatible correspondence and tap Apply.
Options
Section Order
Defines the sequence through which the loft passes; order changes the resulting shape.
Operation
Creates a New Body or performs Join, Cut, or Intersect with Target.
New BodyJoinCutIntersect
Target
Chooses the body changed by a Boolean loft.
Available when: Shown when Operation is not New Body.
Ruled
Uses straight ruled connections between corresponding section edges instead of a smooth transition.
Check Compatibility
Checks and adjusts section correspondence to reduce twisted or mismatched results.
Smoothing
Enables the kernel smoothing mode for the generated transition.
Parameterization Method
Controls how points are distributed and matched along the sections.
Continuity
Requests the supported positional or derivative continuity across the loft.
Max Degree
Limits the degree of approximated loft surfaces.
ƒ Accepts variables and expressions
Precision
Sets the geometric approximation tolerance.
ƒ Accepts variables and expressions
Guides
Displayed as reserved because guide curves are not currently supported by the through-sections kernel path.
Result
Apply adds a Loft feature linked to the ordered section references.
Editing
Open Loft in History to reorder sections or change shape, accuracy, operation, and target settings.
Troubleshooting
The loft twists, collapses, or fails compatibility checks.
Use similarly structured closed sections, correct their order, enable Check Compatibility, or use Ruled for a simpler transition.
