MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Sketch tool

Offset

Create a parallel copy of one edge or a connected closed loop at a specified distance.

Purpose

Create a parallel copy of one edge or a connected closed loop at a specified distance.

Where to find it

While editing a sketch, open Modify and choose Offset.

Selection

  • Choose Edge for one entity or Loop for a closed connected boundary, then tap the side for the new geometry.

Steps

  1. Choose Selection mode and enter Offset.
  2. Tap the desired side, use Flip if needed, and tap Apply.

Options

Selection

Edge offsets one edge or arc; Loop offsets an entire closed connected boundary.

EdgeLoop

Offset

Sets the positive separation from the source geometry.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Flip

Moves the preview to the opposite side of the source.

Result

Apply creates new offset sketch geometry while retaining the source.

Editing

Transform or constrain the created geometry; recreate the offset if source topology changes.

Troubleshooting

A loop offset self-intersects or fails at corners.

Reduce Offset, simplify tight concave corners, or use Edge mode on individual pieces.
