MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Sketch tool

Sketch Input and Grid Settings

Configure the persistent input, grid, gesture, automatic visibility, and construction defaults used while creating sketches.

Purpose

Configure the persistent input, grid, gesture, automatic visibility, and construction defaults used while creating sketches.

Where to find it

Open Home > Settings > Sketch Input for project defaults; use Construction Mode in the active Sketch drawing controls.

Selection

  • No geometry selection is required; settings affect subsequent input or display behavior.

Steps

  1. Choose the Touch + Pencil behavior that matches the input device.
  2. Choose Grid Size and optional multi-finger history gestures.
  3. Turn Construction Mode on before drawing entities that should guide rather than bound a profile.

Options

Touch + Pencil

Chooses the supported touch and Apple Pencil drawing and navigation interaction behavior.

Grid Size

Sets the spacing used by the Sketch grid and Grid-priority snapping. The untouched default follows the active project unit; a manually selected size keeps its physical spacing across projects.

Multi-Finger Undo & Redo

Enables two-finger tap to Undo and three-finger tap to Redo in supported editor contexts.

Auto-Hide Used Sketches

Hides sketches after model features consume them as profiles, paths, axes, or guides without deleting them.

Construction Mode

Creates reference entities that support dimensions and constraints but do not form extrudable profile boundaries.

Result

The chosen defaults control Sketch interaction and new construction geometry while preserving existing CAD entities.

Editing

Change Settings at any time; toggle an entity's construction state with the supported sketch editing controls when needed.

Troubleshooting

Snapping or profile detection does not behave as expected.

Check Grid Size and Snap Priority, then confirm profile edges are ordinary geometry rather than Construction Mode references.
