MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Sketch tool

Polygon

Draw a regular closed polygon using a configurable anchor, side count, diameter, and rotation.

Purpose

Draw a regular closed polygon using a configurable anchor, side count, diameter, and rotation.

Where to find it

Start or edit a sketch, open Draw, and choose Polygon.

Selection

  • Place the chosen Draw Anchor and drag or tap to establish size.

Steps

  1. Set Sides, Diameter, Rotation, and Draw Anchor.
  2. Place the polygon and tap Apply.

Options

Sides

Sets integer edge count and must be at least three.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Diameter

Sets the polygon's circumscribed diameter. A project variable or an expression that references one entered before Apply stays linked, so changing the variable resizes the polygon and dependent model features. A plain number sets the initial size only.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Rotation

Rotates the regular polygon in its sketch plane.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Draw Anchor

Chooses which bound point or center stays pinned to the first tap.

Construction Mode

Creates reference polygon edges that do not form a profile.

Result

Apply creates associated straight segments forming a regular polygon.

Editing

Transform or dimension the resulting geometry; Explode if independent segment semantics are needed. Existing polygons created without a Diameter expression do not automatically link to a variable with a similar name.

Troubleshooting

The polygon orientation or size is unexpected.

Adjust Rotation and confirm whether Diameter refers to the displayed polygon bound before applying.

Changing a variable does not resize an older polygon or its extrusion.

Check whether that polygon was created with the variable in the Diameter field. A variable created separately does not bind existing geometry; recreate the polygon with the variable entered in Diameter, then use that profile for the feature.
