Revolve

Rotate a closed sketch profile around an axis to create or modify a solid.

Purpose

Rotate a closed sketch profile around an axis to create or modify a solid.

Where to find it

Select a closed profile in Model and choose Create > Revolve.

Selection

  • Select one or more compatible closed profiles.
  • Choose a world axis, construction axis, or supported straight reference as Axis.

Steps

  1. Select the Profile and Axis.
  2. Enter Angle and choose Operation and Target.
  3. Review the swept preview and tap Apply.

Options

Axis

Defines the line around which the profile rotates.

Angle

Sets the rotational extent; 360 degrees creates a full revolution and the sign controls direction.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Operation

Creates a New Body or applies Join, Cut, or Intersect to a Target.

New BodyJoinCutIntersect

Target

Chooses the body changed by the selected Boolean operation.

Available when: Shown when Operation is not New Body.

Result

Apply adds a Revolve feature linked to its profile and axis references.

Editing

Open Revolve in History to change Angle, Axis, Operation, or Target.

Troubleshooting

The preview self-intersects or produces no solid.

Use a closed profile that does not cross the axis in an invalid way, choose a resolvable straight axis, or reduce the angle.
