Modeling tool

Draft

Taper selected planar side faces relative to a neutral plane for molding or release geometry.

Purpose

Taper selected planar side faces relative to a neutral plane for molding or release geometry.

Where to find it

Select planar side faces in Model and choose Modify > Draft.

Selection

  • Select one or more planar side Faces to taper.
  • Choose a world plane, construction plane, or supported planar face as Neutral Plane.

Steps

  1. Select Faces and Neutral Plane.
  2. Enter a nonzero signed Angle between -89 and 89 degrees.
  3. Review taper direction and tap Apply.

Options

Neutral Plane

Defines the stationary reference from which selected faces pivot or taper.

Angle

Sets signed taper direction and magnitude from greater than -90 to less than 90 degrees; zero is not accepted.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Result

Apply adds a Draft feature that tapers the selected side faces.

Editing

Open Draft in History to change the neutral plane or angle.

Troubleshooting

Draft fails or tapers the wrong direction.

Use planar side faces, choose a valid neutral plane, reverse the Angle sign, or reduce its magnitude.
