MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Sketch tool

Import SVG or DXF

Import SVG or DXF vector paths as placed sketch geometry.

Purpose

Import SVG or DXF vector paths as placed sketch geometry.

Where to find it

While editing a sketch, open Input and choose Import.

Selection

  • Choose an SVG or DXF file through Vector Import.

Steps

  1. Choose the file and review parsed geometry and warnings.
  2. Set placement and conversion controls, preview, and apply the import.

Options

File format

SVG imports supported vector paths. SVG root pixel or unitless width and height use 96 pixels per inch when scaled through a viewBox. DXF imports supported two-dimensional drafting entities.

SVGDXF

Placement

Controls imported geometry position, scale, and orientation in the active sketch.

Conversion

Controls supported curve conversion and how imported compound geometry is represented.

Explode after import

Use Explode later when individual imported child entities need independent editing.

Result

Apply creates persisted imported sketch entities that can form profiles when their contours are valid and closed.

Editing

Reposition imported groups, Explode for direct editing, or reimport when source conversion settings need to change.

Troubleshooting

Some source elements are missing or no closed profile appears.

Review import diagnostics, simplify unsupported SVG/DXF constructs, close endpoint gaps, and repair self-intersections.
